The Medieval Race of the Ring

The Corsa all'anello in Narni, in the region Umbria (Central Italy), is part of the celebrations held the last week of April.

During this medieval jousting competition, three horsemen try to snare rings.  Jousting is a martial  game or hastilude between two horsemen and using lances, often as part of a tournament.

The primary aim is to strike the opponent with the lance while riding towards him at high speed, if possible breaking the lance on the opponent's shield or armour, or unhorsing him

Ciclo Stile 2013 - Bicycle fans

The truth is the bicycle is still a very very popular mean of transportation in Italy.  Everybody has a bicycle.

Due to the financial crisis of the past few years, using a car has become very expensive, therefore cycling has acquired a completely new perspective.

Cycling is not only cheap, but it looks good, specially if you ride a hand made unique bicycle like the ones produced by Philo - Modena

I just ordered one! Lovely, can't wait to ride my new bicycle!!!!

For you bicycle fans you can have a closer look at CICLO STILE 2013  - Modena April 6 - 7, 2013

Breakfast time!

Buongiorno!

Gotta have breakfast now!

I will see you at the coffee shop down the road :)

Have a good one!

Easter chocolate eggs!

Easter is coming and Italian kids are going nuts because they know on Sunday this is what they will get.........

massive chocolate eggs!  Each egg carries a surprise inside!

You can find all kinds:  milk, dark or white chocolate, almonds, hazelnuts, you name it and sky is the limit.

You can also find different sizes from "regular" to "monster", meaning I could actually fit inside.

You can also decide to have them custom made, where you pick everything, from the taste to the size to the surprise :)

So have fun and enjoy Easter in Italy!

                                         Hi there!
Today I want to invite you to visit Vinitaly. It is the world’s very first wine fair. It was held first in 1977. Ever since the fair has been held in Verona, Italy, Romeo and Juliet's city.

This year, Vinitaly will take place from April 7th to April 10th 2013.

Vinitaly is not a trade fair. Exhibitors are not allowed to sell products to visitors and there are strict controls. This has many advantages: First of all, exhibitors do not pressure you to buy a bottle after your tried their wine. Exhibitors offer you to taste their best wines;  together with the wines you are normally offered nibbles of all kinds:  cheese, cold cuts, bread and so on!  It is a huge "aperitivo" in a way!

It should be noted that Vinitaly is not open to the general public. If you want to enter Vinitaly then you need to be in one of the following groups: Large-scale distribution, wholesalers, import-export, food retailers, bars, restaurants, hotels, catering, wine stores, wine bars, sommeliers, wine technicians, wine technology producers, producers of olive oil and wine, the trade press, authorities, and institutions.

For more information visit the Vinitaly website http://www.vinitaly.com/EN
Do not hesitate to contact me, so I can assist and help you organize your next trip to Italy :)
